Coming Events
12 April meeting: GPS presentation by Tim (Bill's son) plus a short talk by Bill on his recent NZ back country fly fishing trip including some underwater shots.
22/23 April: The Monaro streams event will be once again be run from the Alpine Tourist Caravan Park at Adaminaby. Peter will be sending an email soon to all members re this function.
10 May meeting: basic fly tying by Stuart (to be confirmed) - this will be a promotional activity for a more substantial series of fly workshops by Stuart outside normal meeting times. Plus leader construction by Geoff.
Carp/redfin-Chasing Family Day 18th Mar

A nice evening weather wise saw Alan, Ann, Charlie, Les. Geoff and Peter try their hand at carp angling under the guidance of Charlie who managed to land a couple of carp. Alan and Geoff had a go at spinning with some juvenile redfin being taken whilst Ann, Peter and Les tried their hand at fly fishing with no success. A pleasant Saturday evening and maybe next time a BBQ to go along with it.

Bill was away in New Zealand so no fishing was had together. Photos will be shown in the April meeting talk and appear in the May newsletter.

Meeting declared opened and all members welcomed.
Minutes of Previous Meeting
Minutes of the previous meeting of the 08 Feb were disseminated by e-mail and post.
Business Arising from Minutes of the Previous Meeting
Members were in agreement to the boat operating instructions as detailed by circulated email from Bill. In summary:
Discussions took place as to the need for the purchase of an additional battery for the electric motor for the boat. Geoff is investigating public liability for boats operating on Lake Burley Griffin and possible insurance requirements. Detailed borrowing procedures will be placed on the web.
Inwards Correspondence
No inwards correspondence was presented to the meeting.
Treasurer’s Report
The Raiders Club was paid $275 annual fee for the monthly hire of the meeting room. Bank balance for the Club is $835.51. A suggestion that the club run an outside the club raffle was discussed.
General Business
Alan, Les, Charlie and Stefan attended the native fish day at Googong Dam. All reported small redfin with no other fish being caught.
Fishing Report
Charlie caught a 16.5 lb carp in the Queanbeyan River at Queanbeyan.
Peter reported catches of good sized redfin on plastics and fly in both Lake Tuggeranong and Lake Burley Griffin.
Ann and Steve reported numerous quantities of pan sized trout at Gungahlin. Steve also observed 2 Fisheries officers surveying fish numbers in Gungahlin.
Max reported hook up of trout to 3lbs + at the Blue Water Holes and the sighting of many smaller trout.
Geoff fished the Thredbo River at the Diggings for brown trout up to 3lb on hoppers.
Future Meetings

Upcoming Events
A Carp/ redfin chasing family day has been planned for the 18th Mar at 1700hrs (5pm) at the Hospice on Lake Burley Griffin. Geoff and Charlie are organizing this event in place of the coastal charter trip.

Closure
The acting President declared the meeting closed with the next meeting to be held on 12 April 2006. The members present then discussed and practiced tying different knots used in fishing. These knots included the back to back uni knot, the halfpenny knot, the perfection loop, the nail knot, the braided loop and the uniknot. The presentation and discussion of these knots found strong rapport from all present.
