My wife and I traditionally have a weekend up at Thredbo with her teacher mates. This year it transpired that the long weekend was mistakenly selected, so there was an extra day allowing me an extended time alone on the river rather than just one evening on the snow making ponds. (by the way, we walked by the ponds on the Sunday and the entire group could see why I persist down there with several trout spotted, most in the ‘huge’ category (certainly more than 75cm!).
Spent Sunday afternoon walking upstream from Dead Horse Gap. Most of the fish were too smart for me, but did manage one smallish brown.

A relative of one of Bill’s friends was visiting Australia from UK and asked whether there was any fly fishing down our way. Allan and Bill were happy to take a day off work to show Aaron around. Arriving at the river, joy of joys five trout were immediately seen – well done Allan for site selection.
All in all, a great day away from the office with all of us taking three or four fish.

Aaron spotted this one when we arrived and his patience working slowly up the stream was rewarded.

Aaron landing the nice rainbow.

A little further upstream and another one taken in faster water – Bill had landed one in between these shots and Allan hooked and lost one, all in less than 100m.
