Meeting declared opened and all members welcomed.

Minutes of Previous Meeting

Minutes of the previous meeting were disseminated by e-mail.

Business Arising from Minutes of the Previous Meeting

Rules for booking/use of the club boat will be on the web shortly.

Geoff is still investigating public liability for boats operating on Lake Burley Griffin and possible insurance requirements.

Inwards Correspondence

No inwards correspondence was presented to the meeting.

Treasurer’s Report

$831.97 at bank.

Events

Monaro streams event news was disseminated already, but neglected to note that Les had taken a 40cm rainbow on powerbait.

Upcoming Events

Bermagui trip still had places for one or two.

Jun event for Pejar has been cancelled due to low water. Some discussion was had about going to Tumut for the Jun long weekend. The Riverglade caravan park was suggested and Scott was to co-ordinate.

Fishing Reports

Peter lost an 8" rainbow in the Cotter above Vanity's Crossing. He reported that it is still quite muddy.

Anna spoke of her trip to 7 Gates - fish seen but none taken.

Stuart spoke of the Murrumbidgee above Yaouk with fish up to 2 1/2 lb on weighted nymphs.

Stefan spoke of Tathra Wharf with slimy mackerel and salmon. He lost a big fish ff Bournda Beach and much discussion was had on what species it might have been.

Scott spoke of Fraser Island over Easter where he tusselled with a big shark.

Future Meetings

Jun: Mark Flint will speak on the legal aspects of access to lake/river, also possible implications of the sale of Snowy Hydro.

Closure

The acting President declared the meeting closed with the next meeting to be held on 14 Jun 2006.

Stuart then led us through some fly tying lessons by way of introducing the separate sessions he will be running.

Minutes of the previous meeting had not been disseminated by e-mail and were presented at this meeting.

Inwards Correspondence

No inwards correspondence was presented to the meeting.

Treasurer’s Report

$831.97 at bank.

The meeting confirmed that any hirings of the boat have to be paid for, including club events. Users of the boat are to return it with fuel full - instructions on the use of fuel conditioner are to be obtained from Stuart.

Events

The long weekend trip to Tumut had been cancelled due to no takers.

Upcoming Events

The fly tying classes with Stuart are now fully booked commencing Wed 28 Jun.

Fly casting training day is coming up and all members are asked to commence tying flies for raffles.

Fishing Reports

Alan reported on his first trout on a home-made fly - caught on the upper Cotter before the season closed. He'd been catching some big redfin on the Ginninderra lower reaches. At Jindabyne on the full moon he caught a couple of good trout bigger than 70cm leading to a mention on the Alpine Angler web site.

Scott spoke of small fish only down at the coast.

Mark spoke of his regular family Easter trip to the Goobragandra.

Norm has been getting rainbows in the shale rocky foreshores at White Rocks - fish were chasing yabbies in the evenings - 1 3/4 to 2 lb. He spoke briefly about the black matuka flies that Edgar Reik had been extolling.

Les initiated a discussion over whether carp might be more palatable during cold weather. References were made to Maggie Bear's web site and the need to skin the fish.

Mark F then provided us all with revision on laws pertaining to access to water/fishing. The cancellation of the Snowy Hydro sell off meant this didn't need to be covered after all.
