March meeting - 14 Mar. George will be speaking on his recent trip to the US chasing largemouth bass, possibly Stuart will speak also on his recent trip to Southland New Zealand.

George's Trip to Christmas Island

George spoke last year on his trip chasing bone fish and I've been pestering him for the images since then. Well, here are some:

18 Feb - 'Natives' at Lake Burley Griffin

Two reports:

Peter:

Nope not even a baby redfin.

Charlie:

Bruce, Alek and I met at the car park across the road from the aquarium then did some lure casting till about 11am.

Saw some big carp swimming around and some small red's, Alek caught 2 small reds and I had 3 reds .

Had a good little chat and the day was nice....not too hot, No perch or cod around quite a few electric powered boats and kayaks trawling around. All I could see was little red's being caught.

Fishing Reports

Peter had taken redfin to 2lb+ on soft plastics and 'power minnow' up near Scrivener Dam.

Owen noted carp fishing to be quiet at the moment in Lake Burley Griffin - general conclusions blame storms bringing muck into the lake.

Bruce spoke of yellow belly in the Molonglo arm of the Lake.

Norm spoke of 3 rainbows at Wallace Island Lake Eucumbene at dusk - warned of the extensive muddiness.

Stefan has been spotting in the Queanbeyan River near the old cemetery on Erin St - big carp.

Forthcoming Events

Discussion was had regarding a day after natives on LBG (Sun 18 Feb).

Speaker

Bruce spoke on natives and spinning/bait gear in general. Much interest generated on the merits of different reels
